Oh No! My 6 month old is trapped in a 12 month old body

Alright maybe it is not that big of a deal, but now I am wishing that I had not "planned ahead" and gotten as much 12 month old clothing in summer weight material. How was I supposed to know that I would have a jolly green giant son? We do REALLY appreciate all those who have contributed with hand-me downs.

I am also grateful that Spencer is so healthy. He is in the 98%-ile for his height 78%-ile for his weight and the upper 50s for his head. He is happy, sleeping though the night, eating all the big people food his mom will let him, batting his eyes at any and all girls that are in his vicinity, trying to learn how to communicate, almost crawling (He gets up on all fours and sways front to back like he is working up the momentum to move forward.), and he often walks to school with Jimmy and Kristi and I love to see his happy feet swinging in the stroller as they head down the street. His parents love him more and more each day.

Someday I will do a real update on our lives and finish the tour of our house, but for now I am just grateful that Nathan is DONE with his masters degree and we are starting to get our lives under control.

Here are some pictures of our cute boy.

Is it just me or does this one look like someone snuck a picture of Uncle Robert in with the pictures of Spencer?

Wicked!

My handsome and winning husband took me out for a much needed night of music and theatricality. Wicked is in town at the beautiful, new Smith Center and he got tickets for us to go see it with Megan. The show was wonderful.

Here is a quick life update. Obamacare is ruining my life. The new healthcare guidelines mean a new computer system at work, which means I pretty much live at the office and don't get to see my boy nearly as much as I want to, but he loves his time at Grandma's with Aunt Kristi and Uncle Jimmy. Plan for healthcare costs to rise and trips to the doctor's office to take much longer. I am anxious about what will happen with the upcoming elections. All I know is that the changed that have been made will lead to much less patient care and that lots of good doctors will retire early rather that have to meet all of the ridiculous new requirements. And expect to be weighed at EVERY doctor's appointment...yep even for your eyes.

Nathan's students love him. I stopped by at his open-house and the parents told me over and over how great he is. I agree. He is working hard to finish up his master's program and help out the Elders in our ward as the quorum president. He also manages to find time to help out around the house and make his wife feel special. I am so glad Spencer takes after his Dad in so many ways, especially in his temperament.

Spencer is 5 months old today. He is getting ready to start crawling. He already scoots around quite a bit and rolls wherever he pleases. He likes eating at the table with the grownups and especially loves drinking out of a cup.. He makes the sweetest singing noises and can click his tongue. He sleeps through the night, but does not like the actually going to sleep process, too much he could miss out on. He likes to look at books and Grandma informs me that his favorite TV show is Dinosaur Train. He will prop himself up on his elbows and scoot around to where he is in a good position to watch. He still has the biggest, bluest eyes and smiles with his whole body. We just love him and try to enjoy every minute we can with him.

We like to eat, eat, eat!

Just a quick post since I haven't done one in a while. Spencer started eating big person food. He likes it and does quite well at keeping the mess to a minimum. He likes drinking from a cup more than a bottle and likes to hold it himself. He is as cute as ever and loves to be a part of everything. This Sunday was our ward primary program and he thought he needed to help the kids out by singing along with them. It was really cute. He loves music, especially the primary songs.

Nathan bought me a Bosch a little while ago. I have wanted one since before we were married and he wanted me to have one so I would make him deliciousness. Good news is that it is almost baking weather here in Las Vegas. I haven't used it yet because I did not want to pay a billion dollars on our power bill to cool down the house after baking. Yeah fall!

Lastly, we love living close to my parents and taking advantage of the great deals they find. Nathan was particularly excited to get a 27 lb roast. He is all boy and an Anderson which creates an intense love of meat. Don't worry we chopped it up into smaller roasts and it currently resides in our freezer. No way could we eat that much roast in one meal. But don't tell Nathan that...he will take it as a challenge.

Super Summer Reader

Good News. My Spencer does not have his Mom's bad luck. We did the library summer reading program with him. We read to him. sang songs, went to library programs, etc. and at the end of the program he had a rubber ducky toy for his bath, a new board book and an entry to win a bag of books in the library drawing. Of all the kids for his age group (basically anyone under school age). Spencer was the winner! If he takes after his parents at all he is destined to be a book worm.
In other news, yesterday was Spencer's first play date with non-relatives. We had over two little girls from our ward. I jokingly told Kristi that Spencer had a date with his girlfriend. It was fun! I was glad Kristi and Jimmy are such good sitters and helpers.

We DID hie to Kolob!

I have gone to Girls Camp every summer since I turned 12. It has been a wonderful tradition and I was not about to miss out this year, especially since I have a Young Women's calling. Since Spencer and I are a package deal he was able to be there with me and Nathan was able to get off work to be with us. We were only up there for one day but we had a blast. It was a fun little family adventure.
The camp site was different than the one I have gone to with Paradise Stake every summer, but it was close and still beautiful. It was fun to see the view from the other side of the mountain.
We left at 2 in the morning to be up there in time to get ice cream in Hurricane, UT and be there for breakfast. Spencer is such a great little road-tripper. We are really lucky. We saw lots of cows, deer and beautiful vistas as the sun rose.

Little Green Cabin we stayed in
It was fun to hear the girls' reactions. They were quite surprised to find a baby at camp. He was happy and smiley in the morning and slept all afternoon. I was a little worried that he would be up all night, but he treated his Mom to 6 hours of straight sleep (which was desperately needed after a 1 am wake up time to leave on time). A friend in the ward was nice enough to let us stay in her parents' cabin. It was much more pleasant than having to set up a tent. While we were there he rolled over for the first time. He is growing up too fast for his mommy's tastes but we are so proud of him.

Fourth of July

Husband Blog Post:

Hey folks, Julie has the baby and so I am filling in for her while she takes care of business.  We have had so much fun lately with little Spencer in tow.  We spent the 4th of July here in town with family, swimming and relaxing.  It was a little windy in Vegas that day, and the pool was much cooler than we were anticipating.  It was nice, just not bath water temperature like Julie thinks it should always be.  Spencer was a real trooper and still had a pretty good time.  He has been swimming a few times now and he loves it.  The only thing Spencer did not like was all the wind.  We kept him in the pool for a little while and then toweled him off and got him out of the sun.

We ate hot dogs and took some fun pictures in front of this handy flag.  Super patriotic, right?  We got the whole red, white, and blue thing goin' on.  (Spencer looks super happy because of the wind I mentioned before.)
Julie will be back to update about our Girls Camp trip soon, hope this tides you over until then.

Blessing

Spencer is growing up much faster than his Mom wants him to. He has already outgrown some of his little newborn clothes. His face and thighs are filling out. The newborn small is fading and he is already a month old! Before I know it I will be sending him off to his first day of school...but we're not going to think about that I am just going to spend lots of time cuddling my little man and ignore all of my housework (ok maybe not all of it because it would drive me crazy, but my standard of tidy may be dropping a little).

This past Sunday we blessed him at our church meetings. Thanks to all those family and friends that were there. Spencer was an angel. He was awake and alert, but didn't fuss a bit. Thinks to Grandma Anderson for letting us use the cute outfit he is wearing. He really is a good little boy and I love him bunches!

Lots of people we love
4 Generations of Andersons
He is such a tease. He takes after his Uncle Richard and does not like the camera. He has such a cute little smile but once the camera comes out it will disappear. I have also been trying for weeks to capture him sleeping with both arms thrown straight up over his head, but even in the midst of a dead sleep he will stir and pull them down when the camera is ready.

I love this little boy!

4 Davis Generations
We had our Davis Family Reunion in Springdale (outside Zions National Park) over Memorial Day weekend. We loved seeing all of our wonderful Family. Amy Made AMAZING t-shirts. The food was delicious. Grandma shared lots of stories and so did the Aunts and Uncles. We had such a great time and can't wait for the next one.
